The following describes some common errors made by writers and the reason why they should be avoided.
And
Avoid starting a sentence with And. The word and is a conjunction. You can start a sentence with and but only for a certain effect.
| e.g. | And that was the way I liked it. |
The above is incorrect because it can be a new sentence starting That or it can be joined to the previous sentence with the word and.
Unique
Unique is one of those words like pregnant. You cannot be just a little bit pregnant. Nor can you be most or any other unique. Unique means singular. You cannot be most singular because that is logical nonsense.
| e.g. | This was an artifact made of the most unique element on the planet. |
The above is incorrect. Either the element is unique or it isn’t.
